Round Summary
Round 2, at the highest level, was the story of the rise to prominence of Fury and Legion, who went on to become the most significant political forces in Planetarion for the next 5-6 rounds. However the round was a lengthy one with huge numbers of different alliances having a significant impact on its course. Going into the round the two strongest alliances appeared to be Concordium, who tagged under the name WaC (We are Concordium), and Blue Tuba. WaC, given the success of Concordium the previous round, were viewed as the most high quality alliance around. Many alliances at this time, including WaC, ran themselves on a wing system with different wings operating under their individual leaders. The 17th Legion, among others, had many of its members, who had been heavily involved in Conc in Round 1 also join Conc at the start of this round, and they later went on to briefly form a full wing of the alliance.

As the round proceeded both BT and WaC recruited heavily. This was the round of Planetarion which saw the largest alliances in play. BT recruited to over 1000 members, WaC, including all wings, was well over 500. Other alliances, such as UXF, had 800+ members. These alliances would go on to prove to be rather bloated and worthless in an extended war. Initially, despite clearly being the biggest alliances, BT and WaC avoided each other. BT, in particular, became infamous for their massive attacks on smaller galaxies who had little to no chance of fighting back and as a result they became deeply unpopular throughout the fledgling PA community. This in turn led to Day. Although this was unsuccessful there were huge problems within BT due to its size, lax recruitment policies and internal bureaucracy. Shortly after this time one of the strongest groups within BT, Mostly Harmless, left the alliance, moving across to WaC.

WaC and BT had approached the round in contrasting ways, while BT had made numerous NAPs with other major alliances WaC went on the offensive against any perceived weaker alliances. A large number of these smaller alliances banded together in an attempt to fight WaC. F-Crew, UXF, IPC, SK, ND and hirr joined together, partially under the auspices of Zeus. Fury, who had emerged from c7R in the previous round, were also approached. However due to their reluctance to start a war with WaC at this time they were unwilling to take part directly and instead agreed to attack WaC's ally The Empire. Rinoa's Eclipse were also approached but declined to take part. RE were in fact experiencing internal problems and this time and later merged with TRT to become ReBorn. While Fury were successful in this war, foreshadowing events to come, the main block of alliances quickly fell apart with eventually only F-Crew and remnants of SK left fighting WaC. Although they had some success WaC were clearly still a far superior force.

One significant event, notable for its later impact but less controversial at the time, was the splitting off of Legion, who took the recently joined Mostly Harmless and a few other larger WaC members, out of Concordium shortly before the war commenced. WaC at this stage was recruiting heavily to catch up to BT and as a result standards were dropping. Aggravated by the perception that they were losing control of their alliance WaC HC demanded all their members ground fleets in order to reassert themselves. At this point Legion decided to leave WaC and choose their own course of action independently in future. Although Legion was heavily involved with WaC from the beginning of the round their time as an actual full wing lasted less than a week. Despite the apparent hostility of this act relations between Legion and WaC remained friendly, partly due to the fact that both were attacked by, and fought back against, the aforementioned block. One of the key points in the development of the round was reached when Legion, considering the alliances they were attacking effectively dead, began looking for fresh roids elsewhere. Conversely WaC decided to continue attacking the remnants of the block which were still then fighting against them.

Round 2 was dominated by Fury and Legion. The biggest events of the round were the collapse of Concordium and Day. There was also a major battle at an F-Crew planet which remains possibly the only battle to have crashed the server from too many fleets and ships.
Legion and Fury, both emerging from successful wars, were independently looking for something bigger to target. Both of these alliances were relatively small, more internally co-ordinated and active and possessed superior fleet make-ups, based largely on the extremely powerful, and newly introduced for Round 2, thief. Given the initially friendly nature of the two with WaC the obvious target for them to gain roids from was BT. BT was a far larger alliance than Legion and Fury put together at this point, the combined memberbase of both being below 300 at this point, but as it transpired BT's strength was vastly over-rated. Overcoming initial problems over lack of trust between Legion and Fury a massive attack was launched on BT which revealed the alliance as a paper tiger. Their lack of security and inactivity of members relative to Fury and Legion was crucial. Vast swathes of roids were captured from BT planets and members left in droves before the active remnants of the alliance decided to purge the excess, dropping an alliance that had been over the thousand member mark to one below a hundred.

In Round 2 players could express themselves in alliance tags visible to everyone. They could convey alliance ID , personal comments or even political statements.
While many WaC members had jumped on the bandwagon, along with much of the rest of the universe, and attacked BT planets around this time the alliance remained officially neutral. Although briefly declaring themselves at war with BT it quickly become apparent that, after Legion and Fury had finished with BT,  the logical turn of events was for the duo to turn on WaC, the most powerful remaining force in the universe. WaC began to defend BT planets from Fury and Legion attacks in a bid to forestall this turn of events, and turned their attention attacking towards ICD, who were loosely aligned with Fury and Legion at the time. This, in turn, led to the dissolution of agreements between Legion and WaC. As Legion and Fury prepared to shift their firepower towards WaC many of their larger members left the alliance. WaC effectively collapsed as a result of the threat of hostilities from the now allied Furgion and a number of smaller alliances split out from what was left of Conc, including Sedition, LOST, Elysium and YI.

The remaining WaC planets were progressively roided by Furgion. NAPs were granted to alliances such as Sedition but these largely proved temporary as the two proceeded to roid almost every non-Furgion planet. One exception was ReBorn who became allied to Fury and Legion and became the most powerful remaining alliance in the round, although they were far weaker than both other alliances. By the final weeks Furgion exerted a stranglehold over the top planets and galaxies, with more of the latter being controlled by Fury and the top planets being primarily Legion. The last few days saw Fury and Legion attack each other in a bid to secure the top rankings for each other with Fury taking top gal and Legion top planet. The end of the round was also memorable for planets allowing themselves to be farmed by their high ranking friends in a bid to secure the #1 spot, which ended up being Legion's Videer.
