Battle groups are small groups of players that attack together and, in some cases, defend eachother. They are usually groups of friends within an alliance and/or block. Some battle groups span blocks and are considered fencesitters.

Before Round 10 Battle Groups often weighed down on alliances, as top players from several alliances formed groups that swore higher loyalty to. Such Battle Groups, seen as leeches by alliance HCs, drained the resources from loyal alliance members and undermined the ability for alliances to wage full-scale wars.
