When a planet is first created it is protected for 24 ticks after it signed up. During protection the planet will show on the galaxy screen with [brackets] around it, signifying that it cannot be attacked. It is not possible to attack, perform covert ops or Donate Resources to the Galaxy Fund during protection. Planets under protection also cannot launch fleets, even defense fleets.
Prior to Round 34 protection lasted 72 ticks.
