	@Britt:I think that gviing the links in your blog with dofollow attribute will help encourage insightful conversation within your blog as commenters and visitors will be encouraged to leave their thoughts with the reward of getting their links followed by the search engines. I think it's a win-win situation.@David:While I believe it would help in a way to drive traffic to your blog, I do not see as the sole solution/method in driving traffic to your site. You still need to utilize other marketing tools such as social media, advertising, engaging in conversations in other blogs (or building a community then eventually network of loyal readers) and many other campaigns.
