He soon joined a small alliance named [[naviter]] and played with them in rounds 3-6, becoming a Senior Member in [[Round 6]]. However, even he will admit that at this time he was little more than a '[[newbie]]', attracting considerable ridicule from his classmates for not building over-powered Phoenixes.

When [[naviter]] dissolved at the end of [[Round 6]], merging into |LOST|, he followed his [[HC]] figbash into the [[MadCowS]] community. However, at this time he was more busy with the alliance [[verTIGO]], which he was one of the founders of in [[Round 6]] along with his gal-mates Acetomb and Furry, among others.

Remaining a [[newbie]] at this time, furball has no idea how he survived, but points to the fact that he didn't attack for almost all of [[Round 4]] as a possible reason, since he had no roids. Deciding not to play [[Round 8]] due to real-life committments, he returned with [[MadCowS]] in [[Round 9]] as part of the [[VVOMM]] block, which got bashed by both the [[WEET]] and [[NAR]] blocks. He has always been very proud that his galaxy that round was one of the few [[VVOMM]] galaxies finishing any where near the top 100 (102nd). In the free round, [[Round 9.5]], he was a member of one of the few non-[[LDK]] galaxies that finished in the top 50. The galaxy won the havoc period after the round end, and as such has always been a considerable advocate of the worth of the havoc time between rounds.

In disappointment at the new PaX and the collapse of [[ViruS]], furball quit Planetarion mid-way through Round 10 having made a considerable number of friends in the alliances in which he had been. This time off again allowed him to concentrate on exams, which he believes that all Planetarion players should have as their number one priority.

Reaching university just before the start of Round 12, furball returned to Planetarion with a new 24/7 internet connection and the ability to be around at night-time. Starting a couple of weeks into the round, he took to the game very quickly, being appointed a DC in [[Vengeance]] two months later. His galaxy again finished just outside the top 100, with furball one of the top planets in that galaxy on score.

In [[Round 13]], furball was promoted first to commander then to full [[HC]], mainly focussing on [[Vengeance]]'s political situation.

In January 2006, he was appointed [[moderator]] of the [[Alliance Recruitment|Alliance Recruitment forum]].

At the end of [[Round 16]] furball retired from Planetarion.

'''Round 16''' was the 18th round of Planetarion (there was a Round 9.5 and a Round 10.5) and in an attempt to draw more players to the game, accounts are free.
The round was named 'The End Of An Era', a name submitted by [[Emperor Alan|KingAlan]]. This name is a reference to the end of the [[PAX]] system. The next round was to be based on the [[PAN]] engine, although the changes to [[Round 17]] were eventually too subtle to say that the game engine had been changed.

The [[Round 16:Ship Stats|ship stats]] featured the return of several classic ship names, including the '[[Interceptor]]'. (now a Zik FI-FI ship)

Ticks started at 21:00 GMT on Friday 27th January, with a shuffle at tick 36 (9:00 GMT Sunday 29th January),<br> and continued until 21:00 GMT on the 25th March, due to some server stoppages late on.<br><br>

Round 16 began with [[1up]], [[NewDawn]], [[Angels]] taking up all the running. After [[1up]] gained a lead after skirmishes between [[NewDawn]] and [[Angels]], the universe quickly changed focus on them and a long, drawn out painful war ensued. [[1up]] although heavily pegged back managed to hold out but despite this considerable achievement were to be denied a round victory. [[Ascendancy]], who after spending the majority of the round rising up to 9th place, shot up to a 40 million score lead by adding all their members into their tag due to their non-reliance on defence allowing them to go without members in tag. [[Ascendancy]] held out for a remarkable victory, their instant rise to 1st pretty much knocking the wind out of their opposition's sails.

3:9 won the galaxy race having led for large chunks of the round and the eventual winner of the biggest planet was the moderator of Alliance Discussions, [[JonnyBGood]] who held on despite the efforts of [[rain]] who was gaining fast on him by the closing stages of the round.

Deciding not to play [[Round 8]] due to real-life committments, he returned with [[MadCowS]] in [[Round 9]] as part of the [[VVOMM]] block, which got bashed by both the [[WEET]] and [[NAR]] blocks. He has always been very proud that his galaxy that round was one of the few [[VVOMM]] galaxies finishing any where near the top 100 (102nd). In the free round, [[Round 9.5]], he was a member of one of the few non-[[LDK]] galaxies that finished in the top 50. The galaxy won the havoc period after the round end, and as such has always been a considerable advocate of the worth of the havoc time between rounds.

In disappointment at the new PaX and the collapse of [[ViruS]], furball quit Planetarion mid-way through Round 10 having made a considerable number of friends in the alliances in which he had been. This time off again allowed him to concentrate on exams, which he believes that all Planetarion players should have as their number one priority.

Reaching university just before the start of Round 12, furball returned to Planetarion with a new 24/7 internet connection and the ability to be around at night-time. Starting a couple of weeks into the round, he took to the game very quickly, being appointed a DC in [[Vengeance]] two months later. His galaxy again finished just outside the top 100, with furball one of the top planets in that galaxy on score.

In [[Round 13]], furball was promoted first to commander then to full [[HC]], mainly focussing on [[Vengeance]]'s political situation.

In January 2006, he was appointed [[moderator]] of the [[Alliance Recruitment|Alliance Recruitment forum]].

At the end of [[Round 16]] furball retired from Planetarion.

Naviter was a alliance created by Sean McCann in [[Round 3]] of Planetarion. Naviter started out quite small, but in time the alliance became bigger, stronger, and better organized, while Maranello built a good website for them. Unlike in modern Planetarion, a decent website was quite rare at the time. Naviter had a good organisational structure.

At the end of [[Round 3]] Sean left Naviter, leaving the alliance in chaos. Balmore was appointed as Main Leader and by all accounts was a good leader for them, although other alliances perceived them as quite naive. The other HCs at this time were SpearMan, Figbash, Wimpie and Goofer.Naviter worked closely with [[LOST]] in [[Round 5]], and in [[Round 6]] the alliance joined [[IPC]], [[F-Crew]] and [[LOST]] in the alternative [[block]] [[Cudos]]. In [[Round 7]] Naviter finally merged with [[LOST]]: a few of its members left to join [[MadCowS]], including [[sirad]], Figbash and [[furball]].

Many alliances held the top spot. Among them was The Concordium, which took the lead after the fall of Blue Tuba. Also known by their tag WaC, many people felt that the Concordium would dominate the rest of the round.

However, The Concordium had grown out of control, and its core rotted. Over 800 people carried the tag at one point, and there was no enforcement of its use. The junior wing of the Concordium grew and maintained its cohesiveness. None of the junior members were allowed full membership in the mother alliance, the reason being fear of making the alliance grow too fast as it had done when BT was a threat. Alliances that had helped the Concordium beat down Blue Tuba now saw good targets hiding behind the ones feared tag. The High Council within WaC communicated little, and there was little cohesiveness between members. Many good members left for other alliances like [[Legion]], [[BD]], and [[Fury]]. Several wings within the Concordium split off establishing separate and independent alliances.

Concordium simply collapsed. Former allies and members like [[Fury]] and [[Legion]] attacked, and even WaCjr hit their own. The alliances formed from ex-concordium players, like [[Sedition]] and [[Lost]] (among others), became targets for the now steadily growing and established [[Legion]] and [[Fury]].

"The mighty warriors gathered. Their origins from Concordium, hardened by the Flames of Acheron and brought in among the Gods. They became [[Elysium]]"

A small group of ex-concordium players got together and decided collaborate into the new round. [[Elysium]] was formed at the end of [[Round 2]]: The Struggle for Power, by this group. At that time, the [[alliance]] was little more than an idea and a message board. One [[galaxy]], 27:22, got into the top 100 before the end of the round, only to be beaten down by the major powers, eventually finishing just out of the top 100 [[galaxies]]. [[Elysium]] would become a true establishment the next round.

Many people were drawn to [[Elysium]] because of their developments. [[Elysium]] stood apart from many [[alliances]] for several reasons. First, they had their own IRC server. Second, they turned their website into a major Planetarion resource and information page, with links to many [[alliances]] and PA search vehicles. Lastly, the members continually worked to provide better features for the alliance and all of PA, such as the PA web browser, a specialised version of mIRC, advanced tactics and strategies, and the best battlecalc in the game.

In terms of play, [[Elysium]] was the most aggressive alliance of Round 3. They launched several assaults against the strongest planets and [[galaxies]] in the game. [[Synthetic_Sid]]'s planet, Doog, was knocked out of the top ten planets of the round due to a last minute assault largely orchestrated by Elysium's members. These attacks proved costly, however. [[Elysium]] was specially marked by [[Fury]] and [[Legion]], and were bullied by superior numbers and late-night attacks by the strongest planets in the game.

Rather than giving up, and dissolving, [[Elysium]] became stronger. Innovative and aggressive strategies, such as news screen flooding, asteroid banking, and defense tactics, were pioneered by [[Elysium]] during this period. The best killer fleet combination of the round, the battleship/ghost combo, was first suggested on the [[Elysium]] boards when the most influential people in Planetarion were thinking that the tarantula would be the best.

The Tides of War came, and with a large group of active, experienced players this would be the round where [[Elysium]] would prove to be an alliance of elite planet rulers! From [[round 3]] [[Elysium]] brought what was left of the once so mighty [[ReBorn]] as allies, now renamed [[TRT]]! This friendship did not evolve as many had hoped, and did not benefit any of the parts. The alliance between [[Elysium]] and [[TRT]] dissolved, placing [[Elysium]] alone.

The Tides of War quickly turned out to be an unusual round [[alliance]] wise. Politics often took new turns, and several alliances played the political arena for what is was worth. [[Elysium]] stood more or less alone, and decided to show their new strength early, to create fear and hopefully relieve our planets from incoming hostile. The [Elysium] tag showed up on [[galaxies]]all over the universe. Many doubted that tagging up so soon would be a wise decision, but it took off some of the pressure, and created a sense of Unity within the alliance.

An early alliance between [[NoS]], [[Xanadu]] and [[VtS]] looked as to be dominating, but [[NoS]] broke out and left [[VtS]] and [[Xanadu]] alone. Into the warmth came the so far "loner" [[Elysium]]. A new triad formed by the initial letter of the alliances within it took form, [[VeX]]. When tagging, [[VeX]] dominated the top 100 and easily became the biggest power.

The Tides of War came. The biggest enemies of the new triad [[VeX]], early turned out to be [[Fury]] and its allies [[WolfPack]] and [[BlueTuba]]. A major war developed, and late nights were not unusual. The enemies stronghold would get to feel the wrath of [[VeX]], and major assaults on several [[galaxies]], particularily in paralell 11, made a interesting period of the [[Round 4]] history. [[Fury]]'s leader, [[Synthetic_Sid]] once again felt the pain of losing his roids, when an attack orchestrated by [[Xanadu]], but featuring huge numbers of [[Elysium]] and [[Legion]] fleets took his [[galaxy]].

The war ended, with [[Elysium]]'s enemies seeing Days of Defeat. The new powerful allies declaring war on [[VeX]] was to be [[Nos]]/[[Cell]]. The war would not involve [[Xanadu]], due to political relations, so the real warfare would be between [[Legion]] and [[Elysium]] on one side, and [[NoS]]/[[Cell}} on the other. Massive attacks was launched from both sides, and in the first nights of the war, no real losses on either side. Then however, the new development showed that [[NoS]] and [[Cell]] could was unable to defend their galm8s. A few night came, where only the full members got defence, and later, rarely them either. Defence were at an all-time low. Fleets were out constantly on both sides, and the war would never come to and end. Due to the ships stats making it hard to destroy ships in [[Round 4]], the war never got a clear outcome, and never really ended. [[VeX ]] won most of the battles, but no significant losses on either side.

In the last week of the round, the top galaxy of 98% of round 4 "Camelot" suddenly was overrun by a [[Xanadu]] galaxy, making[[NoS]] lose the last effort to "Win" the round. [[Elysium]] finished with a good average score, and accomplished what we set out to do, prove ourselves worthy!

The round began with Elysium entering the round allied with Legion, and napped with [[WPO]], [[BlueTuba]] and [[Fury]] (the so called [[WTF]]). [[NoS]], [[Cell]] and [[Xanadu]] ([[NoCeX]]) had upon news of [[VE]]/[[WTF]] nap found new allies.
[[TSU]], [[Mi]], [[Templar]], [[G-II]] would join their side in the fight. When cluster alliances began to take shape it seemed that the [[NoCeX]] side wasn’t that big after all.
[[NoCeX]] had to hide in enemy cluster alliances, and when nightly raids came it seemed like [[NoCeX]] only had half of [[WTF]]/[[VE]] ‘s strength.

A few weeks into the war the final blow was given. [[NoCeX]] coords was revealed, and their morale broke. Alliance hoppers did their best to run while they had the chance. This caused many alliances to breake completely. All the alliances in [[NoCeX]] suffered a massive loss of members and command.
Thoose who stayed was bashed long out of top250 and beyond. The [[WTF]]/[[VE]] triumph was total.When targets became smaller, boredom came. People screamed on the boards for action. A small alliance, [[hirr]], declared war on [[Elysium]]. The first attack was a [[Legion]] planet with no Ely’s in it. But they soon learned and found [[Elysium]] targets. Their attacks was easily defended, and removed some boredom in the game.

Since many of those big tasty [[hirr]] planets was in [[Fury]] gals, the retals worried [[Fury]]’s leader [[Synthetic_Sid]]. He declared the end of [[nap]], gave 24 hours notice and what was to come after, War! Right after the declaration, [[Legion]] contacted [[Elysium]] and informed about their intentions of not supporting their long lasted and trusted ally in favor for their nap. [[Elysium]] ended the alliance with [[Legion]] and gave them a [[nap]] until our future together would be decided by [[Elysium]] [[HC]].
[[Elysium]] now faced a strong, determined military machine with twice the members base.

The fighting began and [[Elysium]] soon had to face the fact. [[Elysium]] was outnumbered and trapped by [[Legion]]’s betrayal. In the end of the round [[Elysium]] ended their nap with [[Legion]], it could never be what it was. The war did not cause our members to deflect, it rather made us more determined to revenge the betrayal. [[Elysium]] would remain strong, and even stronger in structure for the next round.
[[Elysium]] went looking for trusted allies, and started talks with Xanadu and Silver. The results was a new triad.

[[Elysium]] enters [[round 6]] allied with [[Silver]], [[Xanadu]] and napped with [[TFD]].

Round 6 was a largely political one, with three main blocks each switching allegiances at various times in the round. Elysium was a member of [[XeTa]], comprising of [[Xanadu]], [[TFD]] and [[Silver]]. [[XeTa]] took an early lead over the Furgion block in with the help of FoS, in return for the round 5 FLVT stagnation.
In the latter weeks of the round, the political situation was reversed and a combined FoS/FLVT force hit XeTa assets. [[Silver]] crumbled due to its relatively new memberbase and lack of experience, and it's core members merged into Elysium. [[Sakera]] and [[rez]] became HC, alongside several members who would later become important Elysium players, including [[Stifler]] and [[XtoTheZ]].

A block lead by Fury and Legion dominated the round from the start, and they were out for payback for round 6. The much smaller block of Elysium Xanadu and NoS didnt have much chance, and the fighting was nothing but Furgion roid runs after two weeks.
Elysium was hit hard by this, losing several players to real life and other alliances, leaving them in a weaker position for round 8.

Elysium was left to choose between the two sides, and decided to join 2vs2 war rather than a shortlived 3vs1 roid grab. The Eclipse/ToT side proved stronger as larger WP/Ely planets defected to it, allowing Eclipse to win the round.

First round of PaX; the new Planetarion.

Start of round Elysium amused themselves to the public outrage of others, by having their members within the alliance set to Recruit -level only. Due a bug in PaX code these members were allowed alliance priority defence (-1), yet did not count to the alliance score shown on the rankings. Elysium was truly stealth at the beginning of PaX.

One of the toughest rounds -- without a clear winner until the end -- in PA history. Elysium entered the round with Eclipse and ToT on its side against FAnG, Dragons (with ND, VisioN on their palms coupled with the few good Wolfpack players). EET block won the round. Elysium finished 1st.

A lot of unfortunate events happened during the round, which for example allowed creation of private galaxies on a random round by exiling in a certain manner. More bugs surfaced during the round. Multies were also caught (suprisingly) with FAnG's HC Irvine being busted with 20 or so accounts on his hands.

During round 10.5, several members had stopped playing, and VGN realised it could not continue. Therefore, VGN played as a part of [[ROCK]] in [[round 11]].

Round 12: The return of Vengeance.

During round 11 VGN operated under ROCK's tag, but were not entirely happy with how things worked out. So the call went out, and we decided we would play if we managed to bring in 30 of the members to play. This was no problem at all, at the start of the round we had around 75 VGN members ready, and as usual we recruited a few new ones - mostly on vouch, but also a few noobs (Would like to point out Iron, 20:6:8, this is the first PA round he has ever played, and he ended on a nice 290th or so).

The HC of [[round 12]] consisted of [[_are_]], Starlock, Ladybug, darts, WesseH, GlowDog and [[User:DukePaul|DukePaul]]. When darts got promoted to work, VGN had to balance it by demoting him in VGN, and promoting RobTD to take his place. Later during the round Sjimmy was also promoted to the HC.

As is known by now, we worked with [[MISTU]] all round, and had a NAP with [[ROCK]] (DeadlRock later). During the early round, we did not participate in the attacks on Absolute (atleast, I think we didn't, might be wrong ), as I personally felt it was a wrong thing to do. Absolute was new as an alliance, but getting constantly attacked made sure that they never got to build a stable community and become a lasting alliance. We were generally minding our own business, and hitting naughty galaxies.

Then came the time when we lost 31:2:1 (Bee). The story here is a bit confused, depending on who you listen to, but bottom line is that the HC agreed to trust Bee to rejoin VGN after the 72 ticks were over. This didn't happen, and he joined [[LCH]]. Partially therefore (also because [[LCH]] was very hostile), we gathered other alliances to attack [[LCH]] (as they were #1), but the others didn't seem too interested in attacking them (felt it was unfair to gang up so many on one alliance, had more pressing enemies etc etc), so after about a week we were halved in number of alliances attacking [[LCH]], and we felt we couldn't contiune with it - especially as LCH focused on us for a day or two. So, we had a talk with [[LCH]], and decided on a gentelmens agreement on avoiding each other, and instead to focus on [[1up]]. By now, the round had come to the point where only it was only two possible winners - [[1up]] or [[LCH]]. And, faced with two evils, we felt that [[LCH]] was the lesser one.

The rest of the round, we attacked with the [[MISTU]]/[[LCH]]/[[HR]]/[[Angels]]/[[VsN]] group on [[1up]] and [[ND]], but as we all know, we didn't have much of an impact

After [[round 12]], in which a lot of old players returned, and with good results, it was time for [[round 13]].
Things were not going very smoothly during this round: several of the old players, after having put all their spirit back in Planetarion for one more round, had to spend more time on their real life again. Also, because of the good results in round 12, a lot of new players joined VGN. Some of these were excellent players, who became a true part of VGN fast. Others, were not.

During the round, it became clear that VGN no longer was a smooth, good oiled machine: we dropped ranks in the universe quite fast, people lost the fun in the game and started to become inactive.
At the end of the round, a group of people stayed behind, but it is hard to call these people one group. It merely existed out of inactives, and a small bunch of people who still made VGN what it really is: a close family.

Things had to change for [[Round 14]].

In the preparation for [[round 14]], quite radical changes happened in VGN, in order to get back on track.
One of the major changes had to do with the change of playing in PA. VGN always was a very defense-based alliance, with covering over 95% of the incomings. However, in the "new pa style", attack (and getting xp) was all that mattered. Players, and thus alliances, had to change to attacking instead of defending. For many of the (old and playing for many rounds) members, this was a hard shift.

Another change was that VGN had grown rather big: it always had been a quite small, close family, where everybody did their thing and everything went smoothly. There was hardly need to kick members, because every member really was part of the alliance. After [[round 13]] though, it became clear that this had changed as well. A lot of inactives were kicked, and the round was started with a small, but tight, group of players. The main focus for this round was to get back on track, and more important, to let this group become an even closer group of friends again, like a family.

The efforts proved themselves: throughout the round, VGN slowly but steady climbed the ranks in the universe. In the final rankings, VGN ended 7th, with just 53 members. The alliances above us, had all a lot more members, with a minimum of 22 more. The 6th ranked alliance was just 2 mill above us, so if the round would have taken 1 more day... :-D
VGN also had the highest average score of all the "non-hardcore" alliances.
VGN was totally alone in round 14, having no naps, allies, fence-sitting, or what else.

Round 14 was a great round again, a round in which VGN got back on track and created a base for even more gains in the future.

In [[Round 15]] VGN continued the strong gains it had made in [[Round 14]] despite running on 1 full-time HC ([[_are_]]) and two HCs without full-time internet ([[RobTD]] and [[furball]]). During round 10.5, several members had stopped playing, and VGN realised it could not continue. Therefore, VGN played as a part of [[ROCK]] in [[round 11]].

Round 12: The return of Vengeance.

During round 11 VGN operated under ROCK's tag, but were not entirely happy with how things worked out. So the call went out, and we decided we would play if we managed to bring in 30 of the members to play. This was no problem at all, at the start of the round we had around 75 VGN members ready, and as usual we recruited a few new ones - mostly on vouch, but also a few noobs (Would like to point out Iron, 20:6:8, this is the first PA round he has ever played, and he ended on a nice 290th or so).

The HC of [[round 12]] consisted of [[_are_]], Starlock, Ladybug, darts, WesseH, GlowDog and [[User:DukePaul|DukePaul]]. When darts got promoted to work, VGN had to balance it by demoting him in VGN, and promoting RobTD to take his place. Later during the round Sjimmy was also promoted to the HC.

As is known by now, we worked with [[MISTU]] all round, and had a NAP with [[ROCK]] (DeadlRock later). During the early round, we did not participate in the attacks on Absolute (atleast, I think we didn't, might be wrong ), as I personally felt it was a wrong thing to do. Absolute was new as an alliance, but getting constantly attacked made sure that they never got to build a stable community and become a lasting alliance. We were generally minding our own business, and hitting naughty galaxies.

Then came the time when we lost 31:2:1 (Bee). The story here is a bit confused, depending on who you listen to, but bottom line is that the HC agreed to trust Bee to rejoin VGN after the 72 ticks were over. This didn't happen, and he joined [[LCH]]. Partially therefore (also because [[LCH]] was very hostile), we gathered other alliances to attack [[LCH]] (as they were #1), but the others didn't seem too interested in attacking them (felt it was unfair to gang up so many on one alliance, had more pressing enemies etc etc), so after about a week we were halved in number of alliances attacking [[LCH]], and we felt we couldn't contiune with it - especially as LCH focused on us for a day or two. So, we had a talk with [[LCH]], and decided on a gentelmens agreement on avoiding each other, and instead to focus on [[1up]]. By now, the round had come to the point where only it was only two possible winners - [[1up]] or [[LCH]]. And, faced with two evils, we felt that [[LCH]] was the lesser one.

The rest of the round, we attacked with the [[MISTU]]/[[LCH]]/[[HR]]/[[Angels]]/[[VsN]] group on [[1up]] and [[ND]], but as we all know, we didn't have much of an impact

After [[round 12]], in which a lot of old players returned, and with good results, it was time for [[round 13]].
Things were not going very smoothly during this round: several of the old players, after having put all their spirit back in Planetarion for one more round, had to spend more time on their real life again. Also, because of the good results in round 12, a lot of new players joined VGN. Some of these were excellent players, who became a true part of VGN fast. Others, were not.

During the round, it became clear that VGN no longer was a smooth, good oiled machine: we dropped ranks in the universe quite fast, people lost the fun in the game and started to become inactive.
At the end of the round, a group of people stayed behind, but it is hard to call these people one group. It merely existed out of inactives, and a small bunch of people who still made VGN what it really is: a close family.

Things had to change for [[Round 14]].

In the preparation for [[round 14]], quite radical changes happened in VGN, in order to get back on track.
One of the major changes had to do with the change of playing in PA. VGN always was a very defense-based alliance, with covering over 95% of the incomings. However, in the "new pa style", attack (and getting xp) was all that mattered. Players, and thus alliances, had to change to attacking instead of defending. For many of the (old and playing for many rounds) members, this was a hard shift.

Another change was that VGN had grown rather big: it always had been a quite small, close family, where everybody did their thing and everything went smoothly. There was hardly need to kick members, because every member really was part of the alliance. After [[round 13]] though, it became clear that this had changed as well. A lot of inactives were kicked, and the round was started with a small, but tight, group of players. The main focus for this round was to get back on track, and more important, to let this group become an even closer group of friends again, like a family.

The efforts proved themselves: throughout the round, VGN slowly but steady climbed the ranks in the universe. In the final rankings, VGN ended 7th, with just 53 members. The alliances above us, had all a lot more members, with a minimum of 22 more. The 6th ranked alliance was just 2 mill above us, so if the round would have taken 1 more day... :-D
VGN also had the highest average score of all the "non-hardcore" alliances.
VGN was totally alone in round 14, having no naps, allies, fence-sitting, or what else.

Round 14 was a great round again, a round in which VGN got back on track and created a base for even more gains in the future.

There are several ways to '''connect to IRC'''. The most common is to use an [[IRC client]]. In order to use an IRC client you need to download it, install it and connect to the network of your choice. This can present problems in some circumstances, such as when you're at work so can't install software, or if you're behind a firewall that doesn't allow connections on the IRC ports. The Galactic Vikings were a small-medium sized alliance who disbanded near the end of [[round 5]].
It was a merge from two norweigan alliances in [[round 2]]. The alliance had a very active membersite and an active alliancechannel with close contacts to some of the other alliances like [[TFD]]. They had an active part in tearing down [[BlueTuba]] in [[round 2]], they also had an own wing that mainly focused on taking out [[BlueTuba|Blue Tuba]] planets. Allthough the alliance was a very active alliance and had alot of good players TGV didnt make the big league due to the bigger alliances recruiting TGV's best and most active members.

Its being brought back again aftere 9 rounds absence.

TGV has finished in the top 10 in its two consecutive rounds in the [[PAX]] era. In [[Round 14]] TGV finished 8th with 2 members in top 100 and 1 member in thtop galaxy; In [[Round 15]] TGV ended 8th again, with 5 members in the top 100 and one member in the top galaxy.

The political stability in Planetarion R15 has again been rocked by [[Insomnia]]'s [http://pirate.planetarion.com/showthread.php?t=188486 declaration of war] upon [[LCH]] - these two alliances are surprisngly evenly matched and the outcome is far from certain. Meanwhile, the [[Scythe]]/[[G-II]] war has come to an abrupt resolution when the Scythe HC who instigated the conflict resigned from [[Scythe]], leaving [[G-II]] unable to attack anyone else because of bash limit restrictions :D. The [[Subh]]/[[TGV]] war has stepped down in intensity, apparently as the TGV average roid count makes most of them too unprofitable to attack (though aggregate roid counts are about even), though it could be due to other alliances interfering as at one stage ''both'' alliances lost a significant amount of roids. Passionate insults over body hair continue to be flung back and forth, however. :)

The war between [[G-II]] and [[Scythe]] was almost over before it even started, with both sides negotiating for a cease-fire. Negotiations broke down, however, when [[G-II]] said they would only cease-fire when Lurch posted a full surrender notice on [[AD]]. Suffice to say that he didn't, and both sides are sure to initiating military action in the near future. Most people still seem to favour [[G-II]] due to their higher level of experience. As [[Phil^]] rightly stated, it's a case of Quality over Quantity.

New developments in the Political situation for Planetarion R15 have arrived. Whilst the top four alliances ([[Angels]],[[eXilition]], [[NewDawn]] and [[1up]]) still have much of the universe's attention (and their roids :p), the focus is shifting to competition and conflict between "lesser" alliances. We have already seen the middle ranked [[Subh]] declare war on [[TGV]], whilst the results of that war remain far from clear, there is also action at the smallest end of the scale, with [[Scythe]] [http://pirate.planetarion.com/showthread.php?t=188448 declaring war] on [[G-II]] - whilst 85 Scythe to 30 G-II sounds unfair, G-II is a tight knit group which many players believe will eventually triumph. But war has yet to start, and the large amount of activity in the political situation this round has made life interesting for all players, regardless of what level they are.

While [http://pirate.planetarion.com/showpost.php?p=2956465&postcount=7 rumors of cooperation] are fluttering about, the B word has yet to be invoked, which can be taken to be a good sign so far.

With the new round only a day away, [[Alliance Discussion|AD]] has taken on an ominous silence. With the return of [[EXilition]], many expect the round to be revolve primarily around the EX/[[1up]] rivalry, though [[NewDawn]]'s very independant play last round suggests there may be some outsider surprises. [[LCH]] returns with reinforcements from [[ToT]], while [[NoS]] bows out after 14 rounds. [[Angels]] once again stand on their own, though rumors would have it that they've been reinforced as well.

Outsiders, old alliances returning and a reigning champion hungry for more; This round has all the makings of a classic.

The upgrade from 1.3 to 1.5 seems to have gone seemlessly. If you noticed some downtime on October 22 it was due to the upgrade process. Hopefully the new features of 1.5 should make the trouble worth it.

One such feature is the red exclamation mark on the [[Special:Recent Changes|Recent Changes]] page. These mark 'unpatrolled' edits. By following the diff link you can patrol an edit and mark it as patrolled (the link is in the new edit's column). This is designed to show people that an edit has been checked out, so people don't need to duplicate the work.

After the various political refactorings in [[round 6]], [[Xanadu]] quickly set about organizing a renewed resistence block to counter the [[FLTTV]] axis. Unfortunately many [[FoS]] and [[Xeta]] members were dissillusioned with eachother, leading to a fairly weak early block [[Newx]], that was countered by a generally (but not unanimously) underrated FLTTV with reinforcements from [[FAnG]] and [[RaH]].

ToT itsself was still a very small ally, but altogehter we had 60 activ and combative members. We restructured our attacksystem and were able to involve a lot of FLTTV gals in our attacks so that also ToT was able to join the war of the topalliances.
After 5 weeks of war, FLTTV had killed nearly all top - NEWX gals and planets. A 3 week take out of NEWX followed and all were arguing about the stagnation in the universe.

So it happend what every time happens in such situations, the winner block splitts. Fury declared war on Titans and FAnG whom [[ViruS]] also declared war on.. Legion declared war to [[RaH]] and FAnG. Through the good relation between ToT and FAnG command, we decided to help FAnG as much as possible without declaring war to [[ViruS]], [[Legion]] and [[Fury]] because with our low membercount we werent really able to join the war of the topalliances which had 3-4times of our membercount.

So the splitt of the block was big problem for ToT through loosing controll over a lot FLTTV gals. Anyway we tried to stay neutral but after a lot retal actions we decided to retal our old allies ViruS and helped FAnG in the attacks on [[ViruS]]' top galaxy 7:13. We fought them till the end of the round and it ended in a tie. Except one galaxy our enemys werent really able to hit us. Good working defence and a lot good battles made the round to a big success for ToT.

Nearly all our gals ended in top100 and nearly all members in top1000 planetranking.
With the end of R7 also a lot of old alliances left the game. [[Xanadu]] and [[Legion]] were surely the most important of them.
So political situation for R8 was quiet interesting.

_are_ is the grand old man of [[VGN]]. He has always been there, and most likely always will. Joined [[BD]] in [[round 3]] in the CvS merge, and has remained there ever since.

He is the long-standing techie of [[VGN]], having built up what many say is the best set of alliance tools in the game. His work on the tools never seems to cease, with a long list of improvements planned.

Strett is the founder together with [[Zaphod]] of [[Tsunami]] in Round 2. Also later in[[Round 3]] he started together with [[Zaphod]] the alliance [[Ego]], where he pulled the good members from [[Tsunami]] and other alliances in. Later in [[Round 5]] he started the friendly alliance [[karma]] and later in the same round, [[instinct]]. He had the capability to easily start a new alliance, but retired due to movement to a place without internet.

A [[lemming run]] is a large attack on a planet (often suicidal), where the attackers do not pull no matter what. The term comes from the fact that this "tactic" was traditionally employed by [[hirr]], an alliance which used lemmings as their mascot.

One well-known and large-scale [[lemming run]] is [[Revolt]], purportedly organised by [[Forest]] in [[round 5]]. In this mass attack on [[Fury]] and [[Legion]], many thousands of ships were launched at planets known to be members of said alliances, but most if not all of these attacks were defended to oblivion.

The same thing was attempted in round 12 on [[1up]], but failed dramatically due to the planets targetted not actually being members of [[1up]]. Some claim that [[1up]] were in fact responsible for the event, in an attempt to draw attention to the [[fencesitter]]s who had personal [[NAP]]s with [[1up]].

Know that others in your galaxy will support you. Send a good proportion of ships to attack (say 50%) in this first wave leaving 50% to defend with. There should be very little retaliation to this strike as attacks will be occuring on BT through out the universe.

If the BlueTuba stench in your galaxy is too strong then await backup on BT day. Remember that you will have others in your galaxy launching also.

The game has approximately 30000 players, 15000 large enough to make a difference. Blue Tuba has 2000 members - with possibly 1000 allies foolish enough to help defend.

Furball: Tidied it up - spelling, grammar, punctuation. No change to content, need someone with knowledge for that.

An [[alliance]] created in [[Round 8]], founded by [[Killmark]] who invited a lot of big names to join him. Although the future sounded promising for the alliance as they had a lot of good players, in the end it collapsed due to arguments between the top players within the alliance.
