A user's idle time gives how long it is since they last used an IRC command on the network. It's useful for finding out if someone's actually at the computer before you start talking to them. To get someone's idle time whois them.

To show idle time on NetGamers you may need to type their nick twice after the command, or type the command twice:

Round 3 block, consisting of:

*Sedition
*The Empire
*Elysium
*LOST

This block attempted to oppose The Triad, but failed miserably.

Cayl says "STEL was largely the creation of their opponents. The 4 alliances in question had some pre-round talks about being a block, and this was almost immediately public knowledge. The Triad had no comparable opponents with the disbanding Concordium/WaC and Blue Tuba in round 2. When the mere rumour of STEL emerged, it was hyped up to the point where STEL had no choice but to work together even though they were utterly unprepared to do so. Even up to the end they were squabbling at the top levels about whether they were even really allied or not.

STEL's failure to come out strong and fighting led directly to the stagnation of round 3. This was further exascerbated by PACrew refusing to end the round and Fury/Legion refusing to break their alliance until an end of round date was announced. This months long period of stagnation led to a mass exodus of players and a weak showing at the beginning of round 4. The beginning of Pay to Play at round 5 sealed this trend towards decline in Planetarion's community."

Once you've got the basics of IRC it's not quite over. 'Serious' Planetarion players need to know a little more to stay ahead of the game. Things like how to keep a channel secure and how to hide your real identity can be very important, particularly early in a round.

How to Secure your own account
* Register with Netgamers and login
* Hide the Channels you are in
/mode NickName +i
* Hide your IP address
/mode NickName +x
Combined: /mode NickName +ix

This is a placeholder for information on maintaining two simultaneous and seperate accounts.

How to secure your channel
=== Security Rating 1 === Suitable for a small public channel
* Only Ops Set Topic +t
* No External Messages +n

=== Security Rating 2 === Suitable for a temporary or semi-public channel
* Secret +s

=== Security Rating 3 === Suitable for any kind of non-secure permanent channel
* Channel registered with P, Ops are registered with P

=== Security Rating 4 === Suitable for a very small nonpublic channel, where all members have easy access to a changed key. Suitable for a galaxy channel or a small attack channel.
* Key +k Password

=== Security Rating 5 === Suitable for a major alliance's main private channel.
* invite only +i
* All members are registered with P

If you are an alliance with more than 15 members, ONLY a Rating 5 channel will be adequate for your private channel needs. A Rating 5 channel will still have spies and so forth, just because its the last entry on the list does not mean its the highest level of security possible. Further levels of security exceed the scope of this article. Look into starting your own IRC server and other advice on removing spies who appear to be legitimate members of your alliance.
