This tactic contrasted with earlier tactics which involved alliances spreading their members throughout different galaxies in order to make targeting them difficult. The advent of [[exiling]] and the expansion of the [[buddypack]] improved the viability of this tactic. The success of core galaxies lay in improving communication/co-ordination and maintaining morale throughout the round.
