Multihunters use admin tools and tip-offs submitted by the community to find and close planets that are breaking the game rules. For the most part these are accusations of account sharing, where more than one person operates an account, or multi-ing where a person has access to more than one account. Both are banned.

Evidence
Evidence used ranges from usernames, passwords and e-mail addresses being similar or the same to login correlations where accounts are logged into at similar times from the same place, or are logged into from wildly different locations frequently (eg. Germany and Australia). When a planet is found to be cheating it is closed and an e-mail is sent automatically to the account owner. They then have 7 days to appeal the decision and it is rare for a player to admit that they cheated. More commonly a variety of excuses are presented which range from the slightly plausible to the wildly impossible. In the case of account sharing it has been known for the planet to accidentally prove the point when more than one person claims to be the account owner. After 7 days if the multihunter team have not been convinced by the reasons presented the planet is automatically deleted. On some occasions the reasons given are satisfactory and the planet is reopened.

Punishments
Multihunters can apply a range of punishments to planets found cheating depending on the scale. Mostly the planet is closed which is followed, after appeal, by the planet being deleted. Other punishments such as a percentage decrease in roids, fleet, xp etc can be applied at the multihunter's discretion, but they are usually used for offences such as abusive language being used excessivley in PA Mails or on the Galaxy Forums.

Exceptions
Families playing, or groups playing at schools, universities and workplaces can apply for an exception to tell the multihunter team in advance that there is more than one account at a location.

Created by Phil^ in round 11 to assist in multihunting duties by doing all the hard work of analysing the statistics gathered during the game, the Multihunters analysis tool has went through several changes.
It was originally a console based c++ program, and in its original incarnation was terribly inefficient.
As time went by it was recoded to cache all data in memory instead of using external files - which saw a dramatic improvement in performance, what used to take minutes now took seconds.
The current version of the analysis tool is coded in java, and is fully graphical.

There is very little remaining sourcecode for the older versions of the analysis tool, since it was constantly rewritten for each round - discarding the old source each time.
Version 0.8 of the Analysis tool - C++ version, not in use
The current version of the analysis tool in use, is version 3.32
