Round Summary
Round 17 began with a different feel than the last few rounds. eXilition remained on the sidelines, Ascendancy, after their success last round, began the round with barely half as many members as they had finished Round 16 with, and there were questions over how 1up would be playing. Another of the big alliances of the last number of rounds, LCH, announced that they would be playing as a much smaller alliance this round. The XP formula, after the controversy during Round 16, had been altered and winning the round via XP-whoring now seemed extremely unlikely, if not impossible. The likely return to more conventional value playing brought different alliances in for the round. In terms of the main contenders Angels and NewDawn both continued on into Round 17 and were joined by new boys Omen and a returning Insomnia.

The first week of the round saw Omen build a small lead, based on a high average roid count and better value, over Insomnia, ND and Angels. 1up still had less than 30 planets in their tag at this stage and many people were wondering if after their surprising loss last round they weren't playing at the same level as previous rounds had demonstrated. Regardless for the minute the alliances to watch were Omen, Angels, ND and Insomnia. As Omen looked to increase their lead over the rest ND and Insomnia struck out heavily at them. Angels, with whom Omen had had friendly relations with since before the round and many shared buddypacks, agreed on a NAP with Omen. Nonetheless Omen were under heavy fire and lost their #1 spot to NewDawn for over 10 days as they lost roids to ND and Insomnia.

However despite their status as a new alliance Omen did not prove a pushover. They fought back, aided by Angels, and retook the #1 spot some 4 weeks into the round. As the top group switched back towards galaxy raiding somewhat Omen were able to stretch their lead over the next week, building a 30% roid lead over ND in #2, who were trailed closely by Insomnia with Angels a little further back. At this time the rumours over 1up had begun to coalesce into a clearer story. Although they had some 60 odd planets intag, which was the alliance limit for this round, it became apparent that they had a number of larger planets out of tag. Although nobody was quite too sure how big they really were the other top alliance HCs understood that they were definitely in contention for the round win, despite what the rankings said.

It was a question of who would make the first move to take on 1up? Omen, as the #1 alliance, were looked to by some but while they were willing to get involved too much bitterness had been built up by the wars that had taken up the first half of the round. An attempt to hit 1up was discussed between the top alliances but it fell through. In the end ND and Insomnia both launched on Omen together with 1up. The same night 1up taggd up and took a narrow lead. In reality they had been well ahead of Omen et al, at least on roids for much of the middle of the round, and the last week had actually seen some of that roid lead disappear. Unfortunately for Omen the political situation was now firmly against them. A devastating night of roid losses, 30% plus, ensued for Omen and although they didn't lose many fleets this knocked them further back.

Due to 1up managing to avoid wars throughout the round while their score was similar to Omen's their value was significantly ahead. Building on this and taking a huge roid lead as Omen were unable to fend off massive incomings 1up stretched their score lead as well. Their military machine was fresh, in distinct contrast to everyone else's and combined with the quality they had throughout the alliance they simply outmatched the other alliances. The wars of the first half of the round had meant that a united front versus them was nigh on impossible to orchestrate. In the end 1up won comfortably with Omen coming in second and ND and Insomnia in third and fourth. One of 1up's big out-of-tag planets, elviz won the round and the #1 galaxy was 7.1, who overtook long time leaders 10.9 in the last week.

After this round, and due to controversy over the way in which 1up hid their "real" planets as well as Ascendancy in the previous round to a certain extent, this tactic was effectively removed from the game, with alliance score being altered so that only a planet's score while being out-of-tag/in his current alliance's tag counted.
Round Summary
Round 13 marked the arrival of the second true powerhouse alliance of the PAX era, eXilition. A group of ex-Planetia players joined up with members scattered throughout a number of alliances over the previous few rounds to create a group designed to challenge the dominance of 1up. In order to accomplish this goal eXi entered the round as part of a block consisting of themselves, LCH and a returning ToT. On the other side 1up continued to work with ND, carrying on from Round 12, and picked up SiN as allies as well.

Within the first few days of the round it was readily apparent that eXi, with a very high average score and roid rank, were capable of achieving the goals that they had set themselves pre-round. Similarly to 1up in the previous round their alliance was well under the tag limit, numbering only some 60-70 planets throughout the round. Initially Wolfpack, having rebuilt between rounds and added the hydra BG to the alliance, and their nearly full tag took the lead but the real war was between the 1up and eXi blocks. Both alliances hovered around the bottom of the top five alliances and hammered each other almost relentlessly for the first 5-600 ticks of the round.

Racial choice played a large part in the direction of this round. Many players, 1up in particular, had gone for the race picked by most of the top planets in the previous round, Cathaar. Unfortunately for them Cath was distinctly underpowered this round. The Zikonian race, newly changed back from subversion to stealing, was extremely powerful, mainly thanks to the value gains from stealing, as well as improving the ability to fake with the possibility of Ziks having more than two classes of pods. 1up, having recruited back up closer to the tag limit suffered perhaps from a certain level of hubris after the alliance's back-to-back #1s, and certainly took on board some members who thought the round would be a cake-walk to victory.

Nonetheless this was still the much vaunted 1up military machine and the damage it caused to the eX block, and vice versa, in the early part of the round was immense. Continuous hostiles would fly 24/7, although sometimes to little avail as in-galaxy defence diluted the efficiency of targeting. Angels, continuing to play as a full alliance after their high average scores and roids in round 12, agreed a NAP with eXi and joined their block. Upon hearing of this the 1up block, after Angels had hit 1up, targeted Angels intensively for one night, leading to a massive 20% roid loss across the alliance. The blocks expanded somewhat, with ToF joining in on 1up's side, and Veneratio on occasion. Roids were swapped back and forth, with different alliances suffering losses on both sides of the block from night to night. Eventually though eXilition's superior activity and dedication, and the quality of their block, led to them pulling ahead of 1up, moving closer behind Wolfpack.

At this point Wolfpack, who had largely avoided major incoming so far in the round (some four weeks in), came under pressure for the first time. They worked with Howling Rain but had largely held the #1 rank as a result of the 1up/eX war. The hydra BG, who made up a large chunk of WP's score and roids, knew many of the eX core well, and had agreed on pNAPs between them for the round. As always this lack of member control proved costly. Wolfpack attempted to fight eX and their block, beginning co-operation with 1up et al but eX/ToT/LCH tore through them and Wolfpack lost large numbers of roids. The block struck back as well, and the fifth week of the round saw eX also being roided, a -13% night being particularly damaging. eX were simply better able to keep their fleets growing and flying though. Roids swung back and forth over the next two weeks with the roid lead being swapped back and forth being eX and WP, and Angels actually rising ahead of both of them during this time. ND and SiN also merged, slightly over a week after eX began targeting WP, into SINND, taking third place in the alliance rankings and looking threatening behind the two leaders.

Eventually, as Wolfpack were ground down, eX turned their attention back to 1up. The roid lead eX had built led to their fleets becoming significantly larger than 1up's and in one night the eX block took nearly 20% of 1up's roids, breaking the back of much of the genuine resistance that was left in the universe. eX's roid growth took off following this, swiftly passing Wolfpack's roid lead. This was aided, in no small part, by a member of the hydra BG and Wolfpack's biggest planet, Keizari, leaving Wolfpack in order to join Angels. eX were now firmly in the ascendancy and reclaimed the roid lead from Angels as they gained 50000 roids in the space of 10 days. The hydra BG left Wolfpack at this point, with much of the group going on to join Angels. eXilition, responding to a unwitting NAP violation, devastated rain's planet as he was moving from WP to Angels. Regardless eX ran away with the round from here on, taking a hard-fought and much deserved victory from the round. Angels, boosted by the addition of hydra, finished #2. More controversially NoS, who had NAPed both major blocks throughout the war, finished in third place. The winning planet of the round was the aforementioned Keizari, who as a Zik benefited from battles such as the one below, and the #1 gal was 1.2, who finished with a comfortable roid and score lead over the #2 galaxy.
Events
Round13's top planets were not decided alone on their aggressiveness, activity and cunning, but also in their ability to reap huge rewards by stealing ships. One of the battles that kept Keizari and figar on their toes was the attack on 15:8:11, which boosted them both ~4M in score. Being on the defensive in the final lemming runs was crucial for securing a top planet.

Description
Fury was one of the strongest and most influential alliances in Planetarion, lasting from Round 2 to Round 8, being born out of Round 1's cluster alliance C7R. Led mainly by Synthetic_Sid, it was credited with winning several rounds, before disbanding after Round 8. Other notable executives included Cayl, Tis, Ghenghis, Cryptic, Zhil and Germania. Famously and frequently allied with Legion to the point where the name Furgion was created to represent the duo. A significant portion of members went on to form the alliance Eclipse in Round 9 and many of the HC went on to create 1up in Round 11.

Round by Round Summary
Round 2
Fury claimed a joint victory with Legion this round after they smashed both BlueTuba and the remnants of Concordium. Having started off the round with a relatively small memberbase, less than 100 planets, Fury recruited from groups such as Joker's UPA, which ended up in Cluster 35 with them and WaC after its demise, ending up with approximately 200 members. Top galaxies dominated by Fury this round with top seven galaxies all tagging [Fury] but t100 planets were Legion dominated.

Round 3
Fury, Legion and ReBorn form The Triad. They decimate their opposition STEL before Furgion turned on RB after Section were deleted. Stagnation ensued until shortly before the end of the round Wolfpack broke off from Legion, and allying with Fury, attacked Legion. Inconclusive war ends the round.

*Round 3 Fury Memberlist

Round 4
As part of the WTF block Fury initially appear strong but are eventually overwhelmed by massive VeX incomings alongside hostility from other alliances. Fury mount a strong late comeback but suffer throughout the round from a lack of activity from Synthetic Sid and dedication on behalf of their members.

Round 5
Going into Round 5 Fury reteamed up with Legion, who had reabsorbed the members who left in the Wolfpack split, although the alliance remained behind as WPO. The WTFVE block was formed to fight NoCeX and tore through it early on. Stagnation set in again before Fury and Legion dropped the rest of the block and spent the remainder of the round fending off their ineffective attacks and cleaning up the top rankings. A notable event for Fury this round was the creation of Wrath, Fury's recruitment alliance, under Zhil, which turned out a high number of top ranking players, many of who went on to become the core of Fury in the following rounds.

Round 6
From the start of Round 6 Fury and its block, FLTV was badly outnumbered by an opposition deeply resentful of the events of Round 5. After being crushed by FoS and Xeta in the first half of the round FLTV took advantage of the split between these two blocks by working with FoS to hit Xeta and rising back up the rankings. By the end of the round Fury were re-emerging as a dominant force but still could not catch back up to the leading FoS galaxies before the round ended.

Round 7
For the only round in its existence Fury is run this round by Cryptic instead of Syn_Sid. In response to the formation of the Newx block Fury and allies form the FFLTTVR block and destroy Newx in the first two months of round 7. As tensions build in the block Fury attempt to control events and it almost blows up in The Consortium Incident. This is averted by Legion and ViruS backing down. Titans and FAnG are targeted and roided down. Fury are almost certainly the strongest alliance of this round.

Round 8
Fury go into Round 8 solo but are dragged into a block with FAnG and ToT after the collapse of Adelante (and the merging of many of their members into Fury). The opposition this round is based around Titans and LDK, who later also recruit ViruS. Titans/LDK begin to move away, roiding top Fury planets, and despite late entry by alliances such as WP and Ely on the other side the Titans/LDK block looked sure to claim a victory as the round ended prematurely. After Round 8 Fury permanently disbanded.
Round Summary
Following 1up's huge margin of victory in the previous round Round 15 saw eXilition return to the playing field in order to take them on again. The other major alliances for this round were Angels, who had recruited a large number of ex-Ministry players, NewDawn and, at least at first, Insomnia. eXi also NAPed Subh, now playing as a separate alliance, in preparation for the round. Prior to the round such notables as NoS disbanded. As the round kicked off the spotlight was firmly on 1up and eX, the only alliances to have won in the last four rounds and they did not disappoint. War broke out almost instantly between the two and with large numbers of hostile fleets focused on each other from virtually straight out of protection both saw their initial growth stunted.

Two weeks of intense war saw both alliances battered down but eXi emerged stronger and seemed to have the upper hand over 1up. With eXi rising to the top of the rankings Angels understood that if they were to have any chance of winning the round they would have to deal with them. Joining forces with 1up they combined to hit eX hard and take huge numbers of roids off them, dropping them down to an equivalent roid-size to 1up and allowing Angels to move pass them to take the overall #1 rank. After a few days of this eX changed their targeting and switched full force onto Angels, reclaiming the top spot for themselves. Meanwhile ND had climbed up to third, and as Angels lost their roids took the roid lead for themselves, and 1up remained in 4th, lacking roids but able to gain some on the nights eX did not target them.

While 1up had gained most of their roids via attacking eX, ND had gained a good chunk of theirs off Angels, the fattest alliance for much of the first 3 weeks of the round. Four days of consecutive roid losses for Angels, coupled with the difficulty of making an impact on eX and hoping to force ND off targeting them, led to Angels hitting ND, and regaining their roid lead. This situation however did not last for long. Angels and 1up turned back to eXilition and continued to target them. Of course this enabled ND to move up to #1, by virtue of staying out of this devastating conflict. eX, picking up more allies in VGN, took the fight to 1up, concentrating on beating them down and keeping them out of contention.

Shortly before this Insomnia had declared war on LCH in response to increasing hostilities between the two. This war did not last long however, with the sides pulling back after the first night. Unfortunately for Insomnia following on from this LCH were able to gain more roids and rise past them in the rankings. Hurt by this and unable to recover Insomnia dropped further down. On top of this they were suffering from problems internally with HC and officer activity an issue. With 3 weeks to go in the round Insomnia disbanded with their members scattering through the universe.

In the meantime 1up had been hammered down out of contention and eXi were by now targeting Angels and surging ahead of them in the rankings. Although most of the universe could see that once eXi had finished off Angels' chances of winning the round they would turn on ND, Angels and ND were unable, or perhaps more accurately unwilling, to work together. With a little over two weeks left in the round ND were some 30 million score ahead of eXilition and eX were still finishing off Angels, along with fighting off incoming from 1up. The question on everyone's mind was would eX have time to pass out ND? After a concerted attempt to remove Angels from contention had moved eX sufficiently clear in second they were able to turn their attention towards ND. In this they were aided by LCH, who preferred to see their old r13 allies eX win the round than ND.

eX/VGN/Subh and LCH all turned their attention towards ND. Angels and 1up continued to target eX but they had lost their early round focus and determination by this late stage. While both eX and ND dropped massive numbers of roids eX were able to outgrow ND scorewise. The nature of the stats this round was vital here. Huge Xandathrii frigate fleets were able to roid almost any other Xan planet, due to the Vsharrak firing after the Tzen. eX were able to gain XP by landing on many of ND's biggest planets, who had grown roid-fat through the round. Often these attacks, even if they lost some value for the attackers, would gain score and annihilate ND's Vsh fleets. On top of this ND simply lacked the military capability to deal with eXi. They crashed large amounts of fleet on eX planets and in the space of a week eX had climbed past ND and now held more roids than them.

Utterly demoralised and by now going inactive ND had little chance left of winning the round. eXi streaked ahead in the final days of the round, eventually winning by over 50 million. The #1 planet of the round was BlackG, of LCH, who together with the #2 planet Cat, also of LCH, had been pNAPed to eXi throughout the round. The winning galaxy of the round was 17.9, whom all the high ranking alliances finished with some representation in.
